It's now been almost a year that I've been working from home. It's been almost a year since I went somewhere and didn't wear a mask! (don't worry, I'm still going to wear one to protect YOU) It's been a year since I've seen some friends, most of my family...I had to cancel our dream wedding in Sedona, AZ...all because of the pandemic.
Being immune compromised during this entire thing has been terrifying. I may look fine, feel fine, and seem happy - but it's horrifying to see what could happen if I caught COVID. I may be fine, I may end up in the ICU - who knows. Regardless, I've chosen the path of safety so that I can continue to annoy you on the radio for years to come!!! (you're welcome)
Thanks to the amazing staff at UT Health San Antonio I received a call a couple weeks back that changed my path...they had saved a vaccine spot for me. It was completely surprising, I cried. I smiled...there was light at the end of the tunnel for me.
Weeks later, I am now fully vaccinated. Ahhhhhhh...I could scream! (I did). I want you to know I received the Pfizer vaccine, and had zero side effects. My arm hurt for a couple days, but that's it. I know others had it worst ,but all in all...you can do this!
So if you're trying to get the vaccine for you or someone you love...here's my advice. Be patient, but persistent. Call the hospitals, ask your doctor, call the pharmacy...I have known more than a few people at the end of the day who have gone to UT Health and other places when vials are open and they either have to be thrown out or put into arms. Keep the faith and keep trying. We will all get there!
