We've all been forced to come video meeting experts over the past several months, and yet despite all the experience, we continue to do these 4 annoying things that make us all cringe. So...are you guilty of doing these 4 things on Zoom?
1 - CAN YOU HEAR ME?! Talking While You're On Mute
We get it, you mute so they don't hear your kid screaming, or the dogs barking, but IF there's not a line over your mic, let's agree they can hear you. Cause what happens is, 27 other people answer, and then no one can hear each other - especially you, and the meeting just spirals out of control from that point on. Just unmute, and talk, k?
2 - Struggling To Share Your Screen
How many times has someone attempted to share their screen with you and they just can't get it to work...which means, they've never tried before and aren't sure it's working. Go through the motions, practice with somebody and get it right the first time - otherwise people will laugh at you (on mute more than likely) during your struggle
3 - Getting Kicked Off After 40 Minutes
Zoom has a time limit of 40 minutes for the free version, then it's around $15 a month for unlimited. It's super embarrassing to be in a big meeting with things going well, and Zoom is like...nope, and cuts you off! The message that sends to people, is you're too cheap for $15 a month! Plus it screws with your momentum, and can likely derail whatever you were hoping to accomplish. Spend the money
4 - When Everyone Talks At The Same Time
We've all been there, everybody wants to get heard, so we all speak at once - and then we cancel each other out and no one hears anything. Ahh...hilarious. It's tough on video meetings, you have to pick your moment and jump in where there' s a hole - but don't be that guy that just talks over everyone - although I have found out Airpods turned up loud in your mic settings will take priority over everyone, you're welcome!
