We all remember where we were on 9/11. I was just getting back from my annual camping trip vacation when I heard NBC's Today Show talk about a plane crash. It was right after the tragic Aaliyah crash that killed the singer and her entourage. Half in and out of sleep I kept thinking it was so odd they were still talking about this. That's when I heard them gasp on TV live as the plane hit the tower. I rushed into the radio station ready to help in any way...only, there wasn't a way at that point. I felt helpless, just watching as it all unfolded. I can pinpoint every moment of that day...I'm sure you can too. What happened in New York that day is still a tough pill to swallow. Many of those impacted are still dealing with the after effects to this day.
As we remember what happened on 9/11 it's a tough day to do what we do...tough to be funny and fun on the radio, but honestly...shouldn't we strive for that? We'll NEVER FORGET what happened, but it's also important we show those who committed these acts and those who may try to do the same that it won't ruin our resolve. We are who we are, and while today we quietly remember the victims, the first responders, the military, and their families...the best we can do is to live our lives and carry on.
Trust me...this summer's taught me life is way too short.
