Fiesta San Antonio has returned two-years of pandemic-related cancellations and postponements. The Fiesta Commission says both the volunteers and the crowds were excited for everything to be back to normal. Fiesta has an estimated $340 million economic impact on San Antonio, and 100 nonprofits make most of their money for the year during Fiesta. The city-wide party and its many events take place from March 31st to April 10th.

Here is a rundown of some of the highlights from Fiesta:

March 31:

FiestaFiesta at Hemisfair - 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hemisfair, 434 South Alamo Street

  • Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one-parade event to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto.
  • That historic commemoration still takes place, but for more than a century, Fiesta, a San Antonio non-profit organization, has grown into an annual celebration of the diverse heritage, culture and spirit of San Antonio for its residents and visitors.
  • Today, Fiesta San Antonio is one of the nation’s premier festivals with an economic impact of more than $340 million, and Fiesta San Antonio supports its 100 plus official non-profit, participating member organization events as they raise funds to provide services to San Antonio citizens throughout the year.
  • Fiesta Fiesta celebrates the Official Opening Ceremony to Fiesta
  • Enjoy food and beverage favorites, live entertainment, a People’s Parade, Military Salute and a Fireworks Finale

Valero Texas Open's 19th Hole Fiesta - 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Backyard, TPC San Antonio, 23808 Resort Pkwy.

  • The Valero Texas Open is a non-profit, fundraising event that supports hundreds of worthy charities throughout the greater-San Antonio community and beyond.
  • In 2021, the tournament raised $16M, bringing its cumulative fundraising total to over $187M since 1922 when the event was established.

  • Over the years, “A Taste of New Orleans” has become one of Fiesta San Antonio’s most popular events. If you’re looking for fun with a focus on family, the “Taste” is the place to be.
  • Pack up the kiddies and bring Mom and Pop too; and enjoy an event designed for all ages. Stroll about the grounds and enjoy New Orleans-style food and music. The “Taste” menu includes assorted gumbos, red beans and rice, shrimp creole, etouffee, shrimp kabob, jambalaya, cajun catfish, soft shell crab, crab au gratin, crab rolls, fresh crawfish boil, boudin, alligator, beignets and a host of other tasty treats. A wide assortment of beverages is also available.

Fiesta Oyster Bake - 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at St. Mary's University campus, 1 Camino Santa Maria

  • The Fiesta Oyster Bake is an event sponsored by the St. Mary’s University Alumni Association, is a music festival, which utilizes 7,000 plus volunteers and attracts more then 60,000 patrons to raise money for St. Mary’s University student scholarships and university and alumni programs.
  • $10 million plus has been raised, during 100 plus years of Oyster Bake, for St. Mary’s University scholarships and university and alumni programs
  • 70+ St. Mary’s University students received Alumni Association scholarships/financial support in 2021
  • 50+Bands and/ Entertainers

Texas Cavaliers River Parade - 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at San Antonio Riverwalk.

  • Located on the San Antonio River.
  • All proceeds and donations benefit over 70 Children’s Charities every year.
  • The Floats are filled with lights, people, and music.

NIOSA (A Night In Old San Antonio) - 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at La Villita, 418 La Villita St.

  • A Night In Old San Antonio” pays homage to the city’s diverse culture with food, music and décor that transforms the village into 14 distinct areas:
  • The Mission Trail area celebrates the early years with a colorful façade of the San Antonio Missions. Explore the amphitheater built in 1941 on the beautiful Riverwalk in the Arneson Theatre area. Find tastes from the Orient in China Town. Listen to jazz and enjoy beignets and escargot in French Quarter. The old west comes alive in Frontier Town with its famous Shypoke Eggs and country music. Drink Irish beer in Irish Flats. Tejano sounds and famous handmade Maria’s tortillas can be found in Haymarket. Have nostalgic fun in Clown Alley. The music in Froggy Bottom rocks as you wait for the famous Chicken on a Stick. Fiesta Hat Contest and Luncheon - 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade, 9821 Colonnade Blvd.

  • Event held for last 27 years.
  • Competition of prize-winning hats in several catalogues.
  • Proceeds help fund scholarships.
  • The Woman’s Club of San Antonio celebrates its 124th anniversary this year.
  • The Woman’s Club of San Antonio is a Charter Member of the San Antonio Fiesta Commission Admission is $75.

Coronation of the Queen - 7:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Majestic Theater, 224 East Houston Stree

  • The Coronation of The Queen of Fiesta is held every single year to crown a new Queen and Princess. The entire event is organized by a board of elected members of the Order of The Alamo.
  • All the Dresses and trains are made by local dress makers.
  • Each duchess has their very own, one of a kind dress. All of the Duchesses and their dresses are featured in the Battle of Flowers Parade.

Battle of Flowers Parade - 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the Parade Route, Downtown San Antonio.

  • The Battle of Flowers® Parade honors the heroic spirit of the patriots of the Alamo, commemorates the victories of San Jacinto and Goliad and celebrates the diversity and heritage of Texas and our nation.
  • As the second largest day parade in the United States, the Battle of Flowers® Parade supports the educational, artistic, social and philanthropic achievements of our community’s youth.
  • The Battle of Flowers® parade holds the distinction of being the first celebration held in Alamo Plaza and is considered the founding event of Fiesta® San Antonio.
  • The parade has entertained our city every year since 1891, except during World Wars I and II as well as the Pandemic of 2020 and 2021.
  • This parade is the oldest parade in the nation produced entirely by volunteer women and affords non-profit organizations the opportunity to raise funds with over 45,000 parade seats sold by charities along the parade route each year.
  • The 2022 Parade will honor the cultural history to which this event has contributed since its inception 131 years ago with fresh floral tributes and the theme “Viva Las Flores!”
