SAC MULTICULTURAL CONFERENCE | SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE | TIMES VARY

SAC celebrates our 23rd annual Multicultural Conference, bringing together writers, artists, musicians, scholars, and professionals together to illuminate multicultural issues within education and society. This year’s theme, “25 Years of Education as Revolution” includes student and community activities showcasing various cultural, artistic, and academic forums, which may challenge contemporary or traditional points of view.

SAN ANTONIO CACTUS & XEROPHYTE SOCIETY SHOW & SALE ‱ SAN ANTONIO GARDEN CENTER | 9 AM – 5 PM

Vendors with thousands of cacti, succulents, and pottery for sale. Cactus and succulent experts offering advice and information, view educational displays to increase your knowledge of cacti and succulents. Raffle plant drawings held every hour. Silent auctions of dish gardens, pottery, and related cactus and succulent items on Thursday and Friday. Live auctions of unique and landscape plants on Friday and Saturday at 2 pm. Purchase our special Fiesta medals at this official Fiesta Event! Join us and get STUCK on cactus and succulent plants. Admission is free.

ST. PHILIP’S CULTUREFEST | ST. PHILIP’S COLLEGE | 10 AM – 4 PM

St. Philip’s College CultureFest and Rib Cook-Off is an official Fiesta event on the Eastside. Join our celebration of cultural heritage and share the rich history of our college. SPC was established in 1898 and is the second fastest growing historically black college in the nation and the only one designated as both an HBCU and HSI. St. Philip’s College, one of the Alamo Colleges, is among the city’s oldest higher-education institutions. Admission and parking are free. Funnel cakes are plentiful.

BLAST FROM FIESTA PAST | WITTE MUSEUM | 10AM – 5PM

It was the spring of 1969 and San Antonio’s Fiesta celebration captured the spirit of the day. Fiesta gowns from the Order of the Alamo’s Court of Time and Space will have you reaching for the stars with designs inspired by the science and technology that helped the United States put a man on the moon in July of that year. Visitors are invited to separate science fact from science fiction with fiesta gowns and costumes inspired by comic books, film and art. From the Queen of Soul to El Rey Feo, 1969 was also a time when Fiesta royal traditions began to evolve to reflect the atmosphere of the civil rights movement and embrace the beauty and diversity of San Antonio. Learn how Fiesta royalty in 1969 helped pave the way for fiesta royalty today.

FIESTAÂź DE LOS REYES AT MARKET SQUARE | 4PM-MIDNIGHT

Combine Rey Feo–a cherished Fiesta icon, with Market Square–a historic center in the heart of the city, and San Antonio gets 10 days of free, quality entertainment! This is one of the largest FREE Fiesta celebrations and has something in store for the entire family! Experience daily live entertainment from multiple stages featuring a variety of music, from the best in Tejano. Cumbia, and Conjunto to rocking cover bands! Enjoy Fiesta staples such as funnel cakes, agua fresca, turkey legs, fajitas and much, much more. Your taste buds will have a Fiesta as you enjoy food from over 30 delicious food booths.

NAVY DAY AT THE ALAMO | ALAMO PLAZA | 11 AM – 1 PM

Free and open to the public. San Antonio’s Sailors will describe and demonstrate a variety of the skills and capabilities of America’s Navy assigned in San Antonio. The demonstrations range from the Master At Arms Navy professional police and security forces and their military working dogs, to the Navy Hospital Corpsmen who provide emergency medical care to Sailors and Marines serving worldwide. Historically, the Navy Band’s Popular Music Group conducts performances and the Oath of Enlistment is administered to local future Sailors. There will be plenty of San Antonio Sailors standing by for one-on-one questions and answers.

FIESTA¼ SAN FERNANDO ‱ SAN FERNANDO CATHEDRAL | 11 AM – 12 AM

Each year the cathedral hosts Fiesta San Fernando, a celebration of family, food and fun. Live entertainment daily and beautiful arts and crafts booths for your enjoyment. Take part in a Fiesta event rooted deep in the city’s history, where “fiestas” started more than 260 years ago.

PACFEST | PALO ALTO COLLEGE | 12 - 10 PM

PACfest is one of the largest official Fiesta San Antonio events south of Highway 90. With attendance of over 7,000 community members, the family-friendly event features food, games, social media alley, musical entertainment, and is home to Fiesta Grilldown, a carne asada contest.

Palo Alto College, one of the Alamo Colleges, is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees. With nearly 9,000 students, the College also offers short-term certificates and non-credit continuing education classes.

Admission is $7, free for children under 12, and free with a current Alamo Colleges ID.

10TH STREET RIVER FESTIVAL | 10, 10TH ST .| 12PM – 12:30 AM

Make our festival your family event for Fiesta 2019! Thanks to the Museum Reach improvements on the San Antonio River, the 10th Street River Festival has truly lived up to its name. Enjoy Fiesta on the beautiful, historic grounds of the VFW Post 76. The 19th Century mansion is located on 10th Street and B Avenue, and is a place for great fun, food, cold drinks and entertainment that exemplifies the cultural diversity of San Antonio. With live music being the focus, musical groups will entertain Fiesta revelers with the sounds of Tejano, Oldies, Blues, and Country Western. VFW Post 76 is the oldest functioning VFW in Texas and proceeds from this event support maintenance of the century-old building, renovation projects, veteran programs, and scholarships for local high school students.

MISS MARGARET’S VICTORIAN HOUSE TOUR | MARGARET GETHING HOUSE | 1 – 4 PM

Enjoy a tour of the unique Miss Margaret’s Victorian House. This home was open for tours during Fiesta¼ in the 1940s and the tradition continues today. This is an antique lover’s delight–a trip back in time to the gracious life in old San Antonio.

The late Margaret Allan Gething was an early conservationist and advocate for the preservation of the King William historic district in the 1940s. Admission is $5

FAMILY FIESTA¼ | COLONIAL HILLS METHODIST CHURCH | 5 – 9 PM

The Colonial Hills United Methodist Church Family Fiesta provides fun for kids of all ages in an alcohol-and -smoke free environment. This popular event has been the source for laughter and springtime family magic since 1991. The event features delicious food, inflatables, train ride, fire engine display, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, cascarones, regalia, and games. An entertainment stage showcases puppets, cloggers, mariachis, and contemporary Christian music praise bands. For almost three decades, thousands of participants have enjoyed a stellar Fiesta experience. Parking and admission are free.

FIESTA¼ GARTENFEST |BEETHOVEN HALLE AND GARDEN | 5 PM – 12 AM

Make plans to join the Beethoven Maennerchor and celebrate Fiesta German-style. Come early and enjoy the lively Biergarten as it fills with sounds of German entertainment and Gemuetlichkeit. Enjoy German food and beverages as well as entertainment provided by the 50-piece concert band and other performers. The dance band plays until midnight.El Rey Feo makes his official visit Wednesday and King Antonio makes his on Thursday. Admission is $8 pre-sale and $10 at the gate; children 12 and under are free

NIOSA¼ (A NIGHT IN OLD SAN ANTONIO¼) | LA VILLITA | 5:30 – 10:30 PM

“A Night in Old San Antonio¼” is a four-night festival in the heart of historic downtown San Antonio that celebrates the city’s diverse culture through the magic of 200-plus food and drink booths; 14 continuous live musical acts and bright and festive decorations in 15 themed areas: Mission Trail, Arneson Theatre, China Town, Clown Alley, French Quarter, Froggy Bottom, Frontier Town, Haymarket, International Walkway, Irish Flats, Main Street USA, Mexican Market, Sauerkraut Bend, South of the Border, and Villa Espana. Admission for adults is $12 advance and $15 at the gate; children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult.

BATTLE OF FLOWERS¼ ASSOCIATION BAND FESTIVAL | ALAMO STADIUM | 6:30 – 9:30 PM

The annual Band Festival will feature choreographed music presentations by more than 30 local high school bands. The marching bands and color guards will participate in the famous “Parade of Bands” while being judged on marching, musicality, and crowd appeal. In between the two Parades of Bands, two to three feature bands will perform their winning UIL competition routines, followed by an awards ceremony. Concluding the evening is an amazing sight – more than 5,000 students will take to the field and join together in a massed band presentation performing a medley of songs, showcasing their music and color guards, in tandem to a fantastic fireworks finale.

FIESTAÂź CORNYATION | CHARLENE MCCOMBS EMPIRE THEATER | 7 PM

For three nights, local middle and high school Mariachi students perform while on boats, entertaining visitors on the River Walk. The festival provides student musicians an opportunity to gain experience entertaining large crowds and also boosts the festive atmosphere for Fiesta revelers.

The San Antonio River Walk Association is a nonprofit membership-based organization dedicated to promote, protect, and preserve the San Antonio River Walk.

Admission to the Ford Mariachi Festival is free.

FIESTA CARNIVAL | ALAMODOME | 5PM-Midnight

Thrills and chills fill the air at one of the best carnivals in the land. Glittering lights, exciting rides and a wide assortment of foods in the heart of San Antonio make the Carnival a perennial favorite of FiestaÂź-goers. Revenue from this event helps support the activities of FiestaÂź San Antonio
