Megan Thee Stallion Talks Friendship with Beyoncé & Teases New Music

Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" became a chart-topping hit this year, and she took it a step further when she collaborated with Beyoncé on the track's remix. The rapper is now opening up about her budding friendship with Queen Bey and so much more in a new interview with Variety for their "Power of Young Hollywood" edition.

Speaking to Variety, Megan recalled meeting Beyoncé at her and Jay-Z's New Year's Eve party. She explained, "In the first five minutes of the conversation, I felt like I’ve been knowing her all my life," adding, "She treated me like family, and now I feel like I am family. We talk all the time."

Elsewhere in the interview, which teased that Megan's new album could closely follow the release of her new Cardi B collab "WAP," she revealed that some of her new music will address the Black Lives Matter movement. She said, "I feel like everything that's going on right now, if it hasn’t moved you to speak out or try to make some type of difference, then something might be slightly wrong with you. Even though I haven’t already come out with a song with that messaging, I definitely plan on it."

Aside from her music, Megan is also currently pursuing a degree, which Nicki Minaj praised her for. Nicki told Variety, "One of my favorite things about Meg is her desire to further her education. It's so important for women to feel inspired to achieve goals outside of social media, where the focus is usually placed on their bodies or who they're dating at the time. Women are more than just baby mamas, and we can continue to prove that by being goal oriented, bettering ourselves and being independent. Megan is the perfect example that we can have fun and be smart at the same time."

In fact, Megan remembered being late for an awards show last year because she was finishing up a final exam. She explained, "I remembered halfway through getting dressed for the event, so I’m finishing the final while my hairstylist is curling my hair and people are calling like,‘Where is Megan?’ I got there and went straight onstage."
