The Black Eyed Peas Close The 2020 MTV VMAs With One Of Their Biggest Hits

If there was any hesitation that the Black Eyed Peas were in full-fledged comeback mode, then their 2020 MTV Video Music Awards set on Sunday (August 30) was proof that they've returned with a vengeance.

Towards the end of the annual MTV ceremony, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo appeared on-stage for a performance of their new single, "Vida Loca," which saw the trio try their hand at choreography similar to the music video with some strategically placed glow-in-the-dark accessories. Yes, you saw that correctly. While Nicky Jam appeared via backdrop, Tyga joined in on festivities later on, but the high point of the set fell on their follow-up rendition of their 2009 smash, "I Gotta Feeling," which they dedicated to the First Responders. Similar to performances by BTS and CNCO, the set marked the group's debut performance of "Vida Loca" off their Translation LP. The track follows the release of previous singles "Ritmo (Bad boys for Life)," "Mamacita" and "Feel the Beat."

Believe it or not, BEP have never performed at the MTV affair aside from a rendition of "Where Is the Love?" at the VMA pre-show at Radio City Music Hall 17 years ago. "Looking back, I can't believe Black Eyed Peas have never played the MTV Video Music Awards. 15 years after we played the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show at Radio City in New York, to be on the top of the charts and on the MTV VMA big stage is a blessing. Thanks to our fans who made this all possible, and we’re going to give them something very special with our first-ever performance of 'Vida Loca,'" will.i.am said in a statement prior to the performance.
