Fans Remember Mac Miller On What Would've Been His 28th Birthday

Mac Miller would have been a year older today.

Social media lit up with tributes on Sunday (January 19) to commemorate what would have been the late rapper’s 28th birthday. As fans know, the emcee, born Malcolm James McCormick, passed away on September 7, 2018, of an accidental drug overdose at the age of 26 years old.

In his wake, Miller left behind a trail of soul-bearing music, including his fifth studio album, Swimming, the last effort the beloved artist would release in his lifetime. Much to the excitement of the “Self Care” star’s devoted followers, Miller’s estate would unveil a posthumous 12-track LP on January 17, entitled Circles.

Miller’s final record was brought to fruition with the determination of his producer Jon Brion. "After hearing some early versions of songs, [Jon] cleared his calendar to help Malcolm fine-tune them," Miller’s estate revealed in a statement. "After his passing, Jon dedicated himself to finishing Circles based on his time and conversations with Malcolm. We are eternally grateful to Jon and to those who gave their best to the difficult and emotional task of putting out this body of work."

Right now, fans across the globe are using today to share poignant memories of Miller and the legacy of love he bestowed as a token of his affection.

“Happy birthday mac. the world doesn’t shine as bright without you and never will,” one user tweeted. "Happy birthday mac. i miss you so much, you deserved nothing but happiness," another fan wrote. "You are and will forever be a legend. i wish you were still here angel. fly high mac.”
