Sofi Tukker Go On Otherworldly Adventure In 'Fantasy' Video

Sofi Tukker released their debut full-length album Treehouse nearly a year ago, and now the jungle pop duo is giving us some insight into the next chapter with a new single, "Fantasy."

The song has been a fan-favorite during Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern's live sets, showing a softer, more vulnerable side to the band. On Friday (March 22) Sofi Tukker shared the new single, along with a technicolor music video that sees the two-piece go on an otherworldly quest for the object of Sophie's eye, only to be surprised by what happens when they actually find what they've been looking for.

“Once you have built up a whole imagination about somebody (or something), you may think you have to risk your life and put all your energy into achieving it. But then when you get there, it's not what you thought it was at all," the band explains about the song's themes in a statement. "In the end, it’s all about the journey. That's what the video is about: we are on a journey to realize our fantasies, and we have to overcome obstacles to get there, but when we finally reach the goal, we instantly get transported to another world."

"We wanted the styling to reflect that we are on a completely different planet. We wanted it to mesh with the crazy colors of the fantasy world we created. Everything about the styles and colors and textures all contributes to building this other world," Sophie adds. "We filmed the video in one of our favorite places in the world: Mexico. Mexico has a special meaning for us. It's one of the first places we ever played and we really resonate with the people and the landscape. We got to go with some of our favorite people and filmmakers, Scheme Engine. We have been working with them a lot recently and they know us really well, so the whole process was collaborative and fun. Also, really physically challenging. WE DO ALL OUR OWN STUNTS!! The funniest part of the acting was probably Tucker flailing around in the water yelling 'Sophie! Save me! Sophie!' We had to yell 'act less' a lot at Tucker :P.”
